Cheers to the Beer Scene in KC

April 07, 2015

One of the best kept secrets about the Kansas City area is that it's a food and drink lover's paradise. The beer scene is especially rich and diverse, rooting back to the founding of Boulevard Brewing Company in 1988 and further back to the many pre-Prohibition breweries that called Kansas City home. Check out what's currently happening in the Kansas City Beer Scene:

  1. You don't want to miss the All American Barbecue & Brew Festival at Worlds of Fun June 13, 14, 20 and 21! Guests can enjoy a variety of craft beers from local Kansas City breweries and samples of barbecue prepared by the park's Executive Head Chef, Kevin Williams. Each brewery will be uniquely placed throughout the amusement park. Guests must be 21 years or older to participate.

  2. Cinder Block Brewery is a 15 barrel brew house nestled conveniently in the heart of downtown North Kansas City. Cinder Block Brewery strives for well-balanced, full-flavored, artisanal craft beers. Everything that is brewed on-site is available in the spacious taproom. Six year-round flagship beers are available all year as well as a couple of ciders. Additionally, eight-to-ten one-off beers are rotated in and out as the seasons change as well as an extensive barrel aging program. Weekly activities and events at the brewery range anywhere from hosted trivia nights to live music, live brewing demonstrations and limited release events.
  3. Rock & Brews is situated within Overland Park's new Prairiefire development. Rock & Brews features something for everyone, including the brand's signature casual American cuisine, a full bar that includes a broad selection of premium wines and international and craft beers, dog-friendly heated patios, and a kids' play area. This cool offering is situated in an atmosphere reminiscent of a family-friendly concert, featuring concert lighting, multiple televisions and rock music.

  4. Dave & Buster's in Kansas City is the place to catch every game! With massive screens up to 15 feet, interactive games and all your favorite food and drinks, Dave & Buster's combines food, fun and entertainment all under one roof. Get your game on in Kansas City, KS!

  5. In Kansas City, Mo., a bevy of small craft breweries and beer-centric bars are emerging. The sharp increase is helping to put KC on the national beer map. We have a full list of KC's craft breweries, but one must-see destination for visitors and residents is Boulevard Brewing Co. The brewery offers free tours that show how beer is made and ends with a sample of Boulevard beers. Or attend its annual beer fest, Boulevardia, held in the West Bottoms Father's Day weekend, June 19-21.

Find beer worth raising your glass to and more at! Cheers!
